EasyStepUK is pleased to host a free community event as part of Refugee Week 2026.
This year's Refugee Week theme is Courage.
Through community activities, cultural exchange and meaningful conversations, we will explore what courage means in everyday life — welcoming others, building friendships, overcoming challenges, sharing experiences and creating stronger communities.
This event aims to bring together local residents, migrants, people seeking sanctuary, volunteers and community organisations in a positive and inclusive environment.

Volunteer Opportunities
We are recruiting volunteers to support Refugee Week 2026.
Unlike many event volunteering roles, this opportunity focuses on community engagement, conversation and helping people connect.
Volunteers will help create a welcoming atmosphere, encourage participation, support the Courage Wall, and help facilitate positive conversations between people from different backgrounds.
This role is particularly suitable for students and individuals interested in:

Cultural exchange
No previous experience is required.
Volunteer guidance and conversation prompts will be provided.

Volunteer Information
What Will Volunteers Do?
Volunteers may be asked to:
Welcome participants
Introduce people to one another
Encourage community conversations
Support Courage Wall activities
Help collect reflections and feedback
Take photographs or videos where consent has been given
Support community activities and workshops
Assist the event team when required
Good Practice
Please:
Listen respectfully
Treat everyone with dignity
Respect confidentiality
Be patient and inclusive
Ask permission before taking photographs or recordings
Please do not:
Ask about immigration status
Ask about asylum claims
Ask about legal matters
Ask about personal trauma
Provide immigration, legal, medical or financial advice
If someone requires support, please refer them to an EasyStepUK team member.
Volunteer Goals
We encourage volunteers to:
Speak with at least 5 participants
Help introduce at least 2 people who have not met before
Collect 3 reflections about courage or community
Encourage contributions to the Courage Wall
